10 days until Summer Reading!

Summer Reading kicks off in 10 days, running from June 1 to July 31! Here’s how you can help our guests get started:

1. Registration: Assist guests in registering on Beanstack or provide them with the paper reading logs available at all locations.

2. Logging and Prizes: Guests can log their reading minutes and complete activities to earn badges and win prizes like tote bags, books, and IHOP short stack coupons. Reading beyond 600 points qualifies them for extra prize entries!

Our Read it Forward initiative aims to reach 12 million points, supporting the Latino Community Development Agency with book donations.

This year, we are excited to welcome back the Neighborhood Arts Program! Enjoy 8 weeks of arts performances across our locations featuring Lyric Theatre Kids’ Academy, OKC Improv, Lucas Ross, Oklahoma Violin Ensemble, Groovemeant, RACE Dance Collective, Alegria Real, Clips & Hips Dance, and Painted Sky Opera.

Visit our Summer Reading website at metrolibrary.org/summerreading for more details. Summer Reading posters and Neighborhood Arts posters have been sent to all locations, and MAC is distributing Neighborhood Arts flyers as well. If you’re missing any Summer Reading marketing materials, please contact [email protected]

We’ve also updated the Summer Reading Intranet and FAQ page! You’ll find information on backdating reading, the history of the program, prize redemption dates and eligibility, and future themes under the appropriate menus. For any questions not covered here, please reach out to OES.

For more details, refer to the attached 2nd Summer Reading Newsletter, which includes important dates, prize pick-up information, Beanstack navigation, the teen volunteer program, and more.

We’re excited to begin this year’s Summer Reading! For any further questions, consult your Library Management Team. If your supervisor cannot assist, contact Outreach & Engagement Services. For volunteer inquiries, Heidi Port in DVS is your point of contact, and teen volunteers should reach out to their teen volunteer supervisor for assistance.
