  • The cabinet discussed the process of county-wide data collection as an initial stage of Outcomes-Based Planning and Evaluation. This environmental scan would be compiled, and data collection would continue for the next few weeks.
  • The group decided to meet the first week in May.
    • The planning department will be involved to use the data to identify desired outcomes.
    • Once outcomes are identified, we can work together to reach them.
      • Project teams comprised of front-line staff can flesh out concepts (for instance, if the need for a teen job skills / resume course is needed, a team will be identified to flesh this idea out and identify different potential strategies for delivery).
      • Delivery may be tested at some libraries before delivery system-wide.
    • The cabinet discussed delegating certain elements of the environmental scan to engagement staff.
  • The cabinet discussed the “programming pause.”
  • The cabinet discussed Summer Reading training.
    • At the next cabinet meeting, EMs will be trained in order to deliver the in-person component of the SR training to engagement staff at their locations.
    • EMs will serve as the points of contact for summer reading at their libraries.
  • The cabinet discussed summer reading communication plans.
    • EMs will work with AMs at their location to help ensure understanding with all staff by communicating and following up in one-on-one meetings
    • The group discussed how Pay it Forward and Read it Forward are elements of summer reading that require thorough understanding by engagement staff, access staff, and volunteers alike.
    • May 1 is the date the supply catalog is slated to go live on the intranet
  • Other summer reading items discussed included decorations, bookmarks, and promotional items.
