Summer Reading Wrap-Up

What worked: Lots of prizes, got them early, it went really smoothly. Everyone liked the tote bags. Oklahoma Violin Ensemble was well received. Communication was good this summer. People enjoyed the newsletter that Zoe created. Felt informed on what was going on.

What didn’t work/Challenges:

  • DN had a ton of teen volunteers but did not always have things for them to do.

  • RE did not have a lot of teen volunteers initially and joined closer to summer reading starting. Would like to get them recruited earlier so they could have a group training.

  • We had trouble with expectations with registration and ended up changing one of our science museum programs kind of last minute.

Ideas for next year

  • We already have these great programs that we do in-house. Why don’t we move them around to different locations.

  • It was a challenge contacting all of the different organizations this year (SMO, MOO, etc.)

  • A general Neighborhood Arts poster with all of the programs. A library specific poster and one with all 160 programs listed.

  • Jessica (SO) has the contact information for a shark person. Matt the shark guy [email protected]

  • Saidah (RE) wants more fanfare when kids complete Summer Reading goals.
