Construction Updates - October 30, 2013
- Belle Isle - OKC & MLS continue to discuss different design options for adding parking at Belle Isle. This work would be part of the renovation project, construction of which is currently scheduled to start in 2017.
- Capitol Hill - The CH architect, Guernsey submitted a DRAFT Programming Report to OKC and MLS on 10/17/13. This report includes the Space Needs Recap, copies of the proposed site schemes and their associated budgets. It also recommended the purchase of the land needed for this work.
While not a big surprise, the projected probable cost exceeds the current budget. OKC & MLS are working on different options to address this concern.
- Del City - Del City is moving forward with site selection which is expected to be completed by the end of November. We are also working to schedule several MLS library tours.
- Downtown - Water Leaks – A draft report which outlines different options for correcting the water leaks was issued by Studio Architects on 10/29/13. This is being reviewed by OKC & MLS. The ultimate goal of this report is to allow OKC to develop a plan to correct the leaks.
Park Avenue / 180 Project – OKC & MLS are meeting 10/31 to review the current plans. Issues to be discussed include final sidewalk layout & replacement, changes to the drop off lane, landscaping and the lighting.
- Edmond Parking - Code enforcement has had a big impact on people parking “illegally”. While several tickets have been issued, this is not a long term solution.
Edmond has outlined a proposal which would close Jackson St. and the alley, thus providing space for about 17 parking spaces. This is to be presented to St. Mary’s later this week. - Edmond 2 - While it has been determined the timing was not right for that a presentation to Edmonds’ City Council Strategic Plan Work Shop on Nov 2nd. Edmond has asked Donna to make a presentation after the 1st of the year. This would address “why we still need libraries & why MLS believes we need a second library” and could touch on general plan to secure it.
- Jones - A restart of the Design Process took place on 10/29/13. YEA Look for an updated schedule soon.
It is anticipated that grading work for the road into the library parking lot will begin the week of 11/3/13 - Northwest - Installation of the audio video system is scheduled to start on November 11th.
OKC has secured pricing to install ADDITIONAL lights in the Program Room. CON is reviewing.
OKC is also working with MLS to securing pricing to replace the bollards. - Southern Oaks – Additional conversations about adding a sidewalk along Walker were held on 10/29. This is a work in progress.
