Construction Updates - July 24, 2013
- CAPITOL HILL – The Capitol Hill, City of Oklahoma City and MLS Project Agreement was approved by the City of Oklahoma City on Tuesday, July 2nd. Guernsey has been selected as the architect for the project and their contract is scheduled to be approved on August 13th.
- DEL CITY – Del City is reviewing the project agreement information that MLS has provided.
- DOWNTOWN - Water Leaks – On 7/23/13, The City of Oklahoma City issued a work order to Studio Architects to review the costs to repair the leaks. This is a first step for the city to secure funding for these repairs. Park Avenue / 180 Project – A proposed design for integrating the 180 Project elements with the Downtown plaza was provided on July 23rd. The Metropolitan Library System is reviewing and will provide comments to the City of Oklahoma City.
- EDMOND – Edmond is planning to meet with St Mary’s Church to see if they are interested in selling land to Edmond for an expanded parking area. MLS has suggested to the City of Edmond that, should this not work out, adding parking control gates may be needed. The MLS Construction office has begun an investigation of these systems.
- JONES – Over the last few months, it has become clear that the funding currently approved for the Jones Library is not enough to create the statement that Jones sought. After some review, Jones is working to secure additional funding. It is expected that this will be resolved by early September. This would allow the design process to restart in earnest.
- NORTHWEST - Progress has been made on the two of the major issues:
- Derrick Glazing – The City of Oklahoma City is working with Atlas to repair or replace this material.
- Landscaping – The dead trees along the south edge of the parking lot have been replaced. Other plants still needed to be replaced. The Metropolitan Library System will need to take over the maintenance in mid September.
- Other work –
- AVL submitted a draft of their Audio Visual bid document on July 22nd. The goal is to award this work in September.
- MLS is reviewing Studio’s options for the Monumental sign for Northwest Library (and Midwest City).
- RALPH ELLISON – Ralph Ellison will be closed August 12th through August 14th and September 3rd & 4th to begin / finalize the repairs to the drainage system. Signage will be made for closing.
