Construction Updates - August 26, 2013
CAPITOL HILL – The contract for the architect for CH, Guernsey, was approved August 13th. Jerry Crone is the Project Architect and has already issued the list of activities. Included is a survey of the existing building conditions which has been schedule for 8/21/13.
DEL CITY – A meeting has been scheduled for September 5, 2013 with Mark Edwards, Del City - City Manager, Donna and Todd to review the topics and issues to be addressed in a letter of understanding for the project.
DOWNTOWN - Water Leaks – A tour with OKC, Studio Architects and MLS was conducted on August 20th, 2013 to review the existing conditions. As there are many options on how to approach this work, the next step is to confirm how these should be presented. We should see a final report within 60 days from August 20, 2013. The goal of this report is to allow OKC to develop some funding options.
EDMOND PARKING – St Mary’s Church met on 8/20 to review the Edmond interest in purchasing the land and the “rock” house for an expanded parking area. A response is expected by the end of August 2013.
JONES – As you may know, the design process was halted in April of this year as we updated the project budget. On Tuesday 8/20, Jones approved additional funding. The MLC is expected to approve additional funding on 8/22. Based upon this, the design process will get underway. Based upon a quick review of the schedule, the opening is anticipated in spring of 2015.
MIDWEST CITY – MLS is working with Studio Architects to develop a new monumental sign
NORTHWEST
- Progress has been made with the contractor. Atlas is at the library the week of August 20, 2013 to address the derrick glazing, roofing issues, landscaping, hardware and the buried steel columns.
- The CON office continues to work on: 1) audio video system, 2) added lighting in the program room, 3) the monumental sign, 4) new bollards, 5) replacement of the gravel at the front door, 6) drainage channel work, 7) shades for the west windows, 8) air balancing and 9) sound control in the study rooms.
RALPH ELLISON – RE was closed August 12-14 and will be close again on September 3rd & 4th to finalize the repairs to the drainage system. We are also working on the “scupper” (overflow roof drain) issue.
SOUTHERN OAKS – MLS is working with OKC to secure a sidewalk at SO along Walker.
