Construction Updates - August 20, 2014

CAPITOL HILL – GREAT NEWS

  • The Guernsey Architects Contract Revisions were approved by the OKC City Council on 8/12/14
  • The Construction Budget has been finalized at $4,100,000, including abatement.
  • The Economic Review Board reviewed & approved the TIF Funding on  8/17/14.
  • Based upon the above, some of the highlights on the construction schedule – which is subject to change – are:
    • 9/11/14 - 1st Design Meeting with MLS, OKC, Guernsey Architects and MS+R Architects
    • 7/21/15 – Plans complete
    • 8/1 – 8/21/15 – MLS moves out of CH
    • 8/18/15 – Plans out for bid
    • 2/21/17 - Computer and FF&E install begins
    • 4/22/17 - GRAND RE-OPENING

EDMOND PARKING

  • The City of Edmond needs to finalize their agreement with St Mary’s church before the design work can begin.

JONES

  • MLS-CON reviewed the project outline specifications and submitted comments to Studio for review
  • Studio is working in an updated estimate as well as updated Design Development plans.

NORTHWEST

  • Warranty work in ongoing at the NW Library.
    • Presently, the drive up book return is closed on intermittent bases - DURING THE DAY ONLY.  The sprinkler repair work will continue over the next few weeks, which will cause these intermittent closures to continue.  Staff are working with Atlas to put signs out to notify customers.  Signs and notices went up in advance inside the building and on the web, as well.
    • The entry off of 122nd Street and the eastern 1/3rd of the parking lot was closed on Sunday, August 17 and work began that morning.  The pavers are making steady progress on the demolition and subsequent replacement of this concrete.  They anticipate pouring concrete Thursday and, allowing for 2 days of curing, the entry drive and portion of the parking lot are on schedule to reopen on Sunday, August 24th.
    • Other warranty work is scheduled to take place over the next few weeks as well.
      • Folding Partition Repairs: August 20th
      • Glass replacement in the meeting room and study room: September 5th
      • Other smaller work items: Entry canopy, vent adjustment in study rooms, painting, etc is also ongoing during this time
  • OKC is looking for funding to pay for the repairs to the derrick glazing system.
