Tim shared that he had received some great submissions for the Alignment Blog. The group discussed ideas for encouraging more staff to participate in comments.

Change to the Implementation of Library Unbound Initiatives

As Tim posted earlier this week in an intranet blog post, it has been decided that we will spend the coming fiscal year focusing on implementing the Access and Engagement plan and giving staff time to feel confident in their new roles.  This also allows time for the Learning Experiences Division to be hired and ready to help explore and design new programs and services that can be piloted at libraries in the Spring.  In the meantime, library managers (and other Member Services' staff) will encourage their staff to create programs locally (not driven from LX) that fall into the three strategic priorities (Learn Smarter, Work Smarter, Live Smarter).  Once hired, the LX staff will work with Member Services staff to create pilots for the four strategic initiatives (Early Literacy, Homework Help, Workforce Development, Locally Relevant Content and Services) to launch in late Spring 2018.  Then, in the FY18-19 fiscal year, we will all be ready to implement the selected initiatives.

In addition, the System-Wide Manager of Children's Services job posting was taken down so that it can be reworked to include more oversight for the activities that fall under children's services, such as the school liaison and partnerships.

Alignment Progress Check/Work Done

The Work Plan was reviewed and it was decided that the majority of the Alignment Committee's work is done!  The Alignment Project was about better positioning our existing staff, processes, and resources to move forward effectively with our strategic priorities and achieve Library Unbound.  At this point, all but a very few staff have officially moved into their new roles and those few that haven't moved are scheduled to do so.  There are still new positions to be filled and there will be a transition period, but the alignment of existing staff can be considered complete.  Although the weekly meetings for the APC have concluded, the group may be reconvened on an as-needed basis.

Please post all questions and comments about this meeting to the Alignment Project Forum.
