EPS Updates 

Summer Reading – Emily 

  • Steering Committee and subcommittees have started meeting to plan Summer Reading 2021

  • Working on contingency plans for whatever stage we are in, should know by late spring what Summer Reading will look like

Winter Reading: Book Bingo – Teresa 

  • Jan 1 – Feb 28, 2021, for adults

  • Messaging will be coming in the next couple of weeks 

  • Online training – available December 1 

  • Modeled after Summer Reading – in Beanstack 

    • 5 books online to get a Bingo and qualify for a goal prize – mug 

    • Drawing prizes include library blanket, Skip-the-Wait pass, and an Amazon Fire tablet

    • If customers get 25 books/blackout they qualify for a special grand prize iPad drawing

  • Questions – reach out to EPS 

Virtual programming during unexpected closure – Kristin 

  • Guidelines sent in an email 

  • Variables to help decide 

  • Content library of recorded programs for use – talk to you supervisor about providing content

Children Reading to Dogs – Heidi 

  • Link in spreadsheet to sign up  

  • Great response from participants and volunteers 

ArtDesk – Judith 

  • Potential partnership w/ Kirkpatrick Foundation and Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center

  • MOU still in progress

Question about bad weather and curbside service

  • Modify curbside for weather as long as it’s safe to do so.

Sharing and Virtual Programming Discussion

    • Paranormal Fest in October was all virtual, good views on content
    • Native American Heritage month
    • LitFest will be happening next August – interest?  E-mail Sarah, start meeting in February
    • If anyone is Indigenous or knows someone that is Indigenous that is interested in recording themselves reading an Indigenous themed book for our monthly Indigenous Storytime, please let Sarah know! 
  • Beth Loecke – CL

    • Tai Chi – online with Lyle. He will do another 4 sessions in January, please help promote
    • Susan Morris – disaster outreach manager for Red Cross, has program online for kids, teens and adults. Participants are responsible for their own kit supplies – bags from summer are fine to use and Teresa has mini-flashlights to use as well. 
  • Tulin Lafollette –  MC
    • Danielle is working with Phil from SO to make shadow boxes and take and makes
    • Busy with disaster relief forms 
  • Jessica Morris – SO 
    • Phil is working on shadow boxes with Zoom program and kits. 
    • Grab and go kits – wreaths, mod podge candle holder.

    • Tips to reach out to people besides bookmarks, flyers and in take-home kits? Responses from the group included these suggestions: partner with EPS for more success, try a pre-recorded program, work with SPP/MAC to use other social media outlets, check on the timing for more available attendance, poll your audience and get contact info for direct e-mail promotion. 
  • Dochelle Whitley – RE 
    • RE is still offering Stepping Into Shape exercise program on Thursday and Saturday.  
    • RE Inspired Readers are meeting every 3rd Saturday of the month.  
    • Doing a take home Macramé Planter kit from Nov 23 - Dec 6 and there will be 30 available until they are all gone!   
  • Cindy Martin – VI 
    • Take home kits – once a month per age group (Take home Tuesday) with pre-registration. 
    • Natural Grocers – KETO Reset program 
  • Kate Sanders – VI 
    • Kits – really impactful. December 8oz soy candles.
    • November – Cherokee two needle beading 
    • Online – self-care program specifically for the holidays. Attended by 300 – 500 people. 
    • Flyer of places to charge devices, have internet access when power was down. 
  • Darrie Breathwit – SO 
    • Southern Oaks is having a Community Quilt Program. I have created mini quilt kits for customers to pick up. The quilt blocks will be quilted and joined together to create a large quilt that will be on display at the library and online. Customer's are sharing wonderful stories with their quilt blocks. I'm sorry I do not have a microphone.

    • City of Edmond LGBTQ – Adult and Children's engagement staff created videos for Edmond Pride including storytime

    • Citizenship classes – Darcus is the ED Library contact person and is working with Phil, ODL, Community Literacy Center, EPS. New classes started November 4. 
  • Meaghan Hunt – DC 
    • Offered an array of virtual things – successful programs not necessarily educational – adult game night. 
    • Bird Runningwater for a virtual program on 11/23 – working with EPS/SPP to stream and archive on Facebook Live
    • Program hibernation since the library is moving in March – taking a breather and reassessing community needs when open.

    • Not much virtual programming, but some are planned – hoping to increase numbers

    • RDs are excited about the idea of a virtual program library facilitated by EPS– potential for programs to live on and continue to serve. 
    • Think about budgets for the next fiscal year!  Budget cycle begins again in February – contingency plans as well

    • 123 Play with Me – Zoom and recorded sessions. Looking forward to the spring to adapt for virtual. 
    • Civic Programming wrapped up for the fall. More success with National Voter Registration Day. 
    • February means legislative sessions will take place – customers can reach out to Elected Officials
