- Look up which customer has the iPad in Carl.X. The iPads are listed with the title of “MLS iPad” in Carl.X. You can do a Title Word search for “MLS iPad” in Carl.X on the Item Information screen. Highlight the item that is still checked out and “double-click” on the item. This will bring up the “Item Detail” screen. Click the “Who Has It” button to determine who has it checked out. You can also click the “Patron Info” button from the “Who Has It” screen to access the customer’s contact information.
- Try to contact the customer by phone. Explain to the customer in a non-accusatory manner that they may not have understood, but the iPad checkouts are for “In Library Use Only”. Tell them it needs to be returned by the end of that day or we will have to file a police report that the iPad has been stolen.
- If the customer doesn’t return the iPad by the end of the day, a police report will need to be filed. You can contact IT to get the serial number of the iPad when filing the police report.
