REPORTS

Outreach – Dana displayed the 2013 Summer Reading – Early Childhood, Children and Teen poster boards which were all original artwork from the MLS Marketing Department. This year’s Early Childhood and Children’s theme is ‘Dig Into Reading’. The Teen theme is ‘Beneath the Surface’. Summer Reading will begin June 1st through July 31st. Brochures were sent out to libraries and area schools this week.

Dana also stated the ‘Day at the Zoo’ event sponsored by OETA and Read Across Oklahoma went very well.

Library Operations & Planning – Kay announced the monthly summary for MyMetroMinute. Staff created 261 original written content and added 33 comments for the month of March on MyMetrolibrary. There is a new job opening for a Virtual Librarian.

Web services partnered with the Oklahoma Collection Coordinator, Buddy Johnson, to create a new user focus platform for customers to locate and use the MLS digital collections. This new service was created using existing content from the Oklahoma Images Collections, Oklahoma Folklore, Building Index and the Audio/Video Archives. The new service will ultimately become a one stop shop for all Oklahoma databases with streamlined search ability and functions.

There will be a venue change for FOCUS this year due to closing of the Magnuson Hotel. Stacy visited a few locations and scheduling more venue visits.

Library Operations – Denyvetta stated the Manager’s meeting scheduled for today is cancelled. The manager’s budgets are complete.

Emotional Intelligence Training session is scheduled for Thursday, May 23rd, at the Warr Acres Library from 9-4 pm instructed by Tom Massey.

Denyvetta discussed her time at the Legislative Breakfast and her interaction with the new Moore Manager (Pioneer Library System) went well.

Library Operations (Headquarters) – Candace announced the UCO Dance Troupe will perform today from 6-8 pm.

Staff Recognition Dinner is Saturday, October 26th at the Cowboy Hall of Fame.

The Safety Manual is now complete. Copies are placed in all library locations and on the MyMetrolibrary.

Administration / Commission – Donna announced House Bill 1511 was passed and signed by the Governor of Oklahoma. Since House Bill 1511 passed, juvenile (18 & under) library card holders’ record information is now confidential and cannot be given to outside sources. The Bill will not affect adult card holder accounts. Adult library customer registration information is still subject to open record requests.

Donna also stated the Northwest Library received a citation award from the Oklahoma Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

Finance & Support – Lloyd announced a few updates with the Facilities Maintenance Department: A temporary ramp was built at the Jones Library and the book drop was lifted to better assist library customers. He thanked the Maintenance crew for doing such a great job during Patrick’s leave.

Lloyd stated the budget is now locked.

Information Technology – Anne is working on the budget and library closings.
The IT Department is in the process of receiving authentication with Freegal Music (free music download system) and will begin testing the system this week.

IT is also working on library computer installations.

Development – Diane announced the Development Department is welcoming a new Development Associate, Alisa Baez, Monday, April 22nd.

Literary Voices Dinner with Author David McCullough is tomorrow night. This Friday Mr. McCullough will read Horton Hatches an Egg at the Southern Oaks Library to a group of 2nd graders from Parmalee Elementary School.

The Friends Annual Meeting is Tuesday, May 21st at the Northwest Library.

Facilities Maintenance – Out of the Office

Human Resources – The Human Resources Department is working on the budget and Healthcare Reform Certification Regulations.

Kelley and Kasandra are busy with the Wellness Program and new software.

Lori announced 91 people participated in the weight loss challenge and lost over 300 pounds.

MAC – Out of the Office

Materials & Outreach – Karen has finished the Materials and Outreach budget.

Karen plans to attend the upcoming manager’s meeting to discuss the new Playaway Views.
